Welcoming Green Day Adventure Travel & Tours!
Before making any confirmations let me just take this time to wish all our friends and family both in the Seychelles and around the world a 'Happy Independence Day'! Yes today 29th June 2009 is the birth of our tiny republic. Our beloved islands moved from being a colony from Great Britain on 29th June 1976 and at a second past midnight, the morning of the 29th we became a republic! Yes 33 years young and still growing and learning! What a time to be in the Seychelles and taking in the sights! Happy Birthday Seychelles!
Now for the other BIG news and that is that we are now partnered up with Green Day Adventure Travel & Tours! This strategic partnership with 'Green Day' takes us a step closer to the launching of 'UniqueOffersGhana!' And like our website for the Seychelles, the Ghana project will have businesses from the tourist trade, arts and crafts and other interesting items and services on offer. Charles the CEO of 'Green Day' and Godwin who handles the marketing are well positioned to handle what we need to have happen for 'UniqueOffersGhana!'. Interesting times ahead so stay tuned!
By the way if you take a visit to our site today you will be able to see several special tours being organised for Ghana! July through August is a special time in Ghana! I will be back shortly to update you as to why!
Once again before I 'pen' off, another shout out to the Seychelles Islands! Happy Birthday to the paradise islands! If you are not there yet, u should be!
More later! Until then take good care!

I Recommend. Taking In The Sights At The 'Pirates'
So it is Friday 12th June 2009 and right now on the islands it is just about to strike 6pm! What am I doing right now? Well about to go and sit down at the main 'watering hole' in 'downtown' Victoria - The Pirates Arms, meet the mates and do some 'peoples' watching.
Actually I am running a bit late because the best time to do this 'peoples watching' is around noon time! But anytime in the Seychelles is a good time to watch the 'peoples' enjoy a good drink and share some stories after a 'hard' week on the islands! Hard? Yeah right!
Great weather, beautiful beaches, great food, the smiles of the 'Creole' folks! This is HARD? Nope!
And after a drink or two? Head for a great Creole dish either at home or at a little eating place nearby, catch a film at Deepam's then head for a quiet walk on the beach to watch the best night show around! The night sky of the Seychelles! Twinkle, twinkle....
Enjoy your week-end!
Oops! In case you have been following - I do promise to update this blog shortly with "The Ghost Of Farquhar"!
Where are the Farquhar's?
The Farquhar Group belong to the Outer Islands of the Seychelles, lying in the southwest of the island nation, more than 700 kilometres southwest the capital, Victoria, on Mahé Island. The total land area of all islands in the group is less than 11 km², but the total area of the atolls measures about 370 km².
The group consists of two atolls and one separate island. In addition, there is one separate submerged reef in the area:
Farquhar Atoll (with two larger and about eight smaller islets)
Providence Atoll (with 2 islets, Providence Island and Cerf Island)
St. Pierre Island
Wizard Reef (submerged)
There are only two settlements. The main settlement is on Île du Nord (North Island) of Farquhar Atoll, and the other one on Providence Island of Providence Atoll.

Celebrate World Oceans Day! June 8th 2009
The concept for World Oceans Day was proposed in 1992 by the Government of Canada at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and it had been unofficially celebrated every year since then. Official designation by the U.N. is a significant step in conserving and protecting our world's ocean.
World Oceans Day provides an opportunity each year to celebrate our world ocean and our personal connection to the sea. The Ocean Project, working closely with the World Ocean Network each year, helps to coordinate events and activities with aquariums, zoos, museums, conservation organizations, universities, schools, businesses.
As of 2009, "World Oceans Day" has been officially declared by the United Nations as June 8th each year! Congratulations to all for helping make this happen! Source -About World Oceans Day.

The Seychelles Islands - officially the Republic of Seychelles (French: République des Seychelles; Creole: Repiblik Sesel), is an archipelago nation of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,500 kilometres (930 mi) east of mainland Africa, northeast of the island of Madagascar. Other nearby island countries and territories include Zanzibar to the west, Mauritius and Réunion to the south, Comoros and Mayotte to the southwest, and the Suvadives of the Maldives to the northeast. Seychelles has the smallest population of any state in Africa.
Seychelles continues to strive with the help of its citizens, NGO's, and government, to preserve its natural habitats, land, air, and waters!

Reasons To Come To Seychelles Part Trois

So Much Inspiration!
The thick jungles of the Seychelles. Virgin forests set in vibrant tropical colours. Running streams leading to a waterfall where once giant land tortoises drank. Village settings. Fishermen by their boats after an early morning fishing trip. Families out to the local shop for the night's groceries. Many images captured by the imagination of this artist, Gerard Devoud, are brought to life and now made available to you at your leisure at your fingertips.
If you are planning to be in Seychelles then plan on visiting the Gerard Devoud Art Gallery now at two convenient locations - Les Mamelles Gallery and ValMer Resort at Baie Lazare, both on the big island of Mahe, the main island of the Seychelles.
Shop online for the art works of Gerard Devoud. Own a 'Devoud' today. Le Kool Kreole Gallery.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shopping at the 'corner market' as all shops close early on Saturdays and briefly open again late in the afternoon only for a brief spell. Unless you know the shopkeeper, do not count on the shop opening for you on a Sunday! Of course in an emergency and if 'madame' is in need, then of course the doors will be opened.

La Digue. At Your Own Pace!
Well after an enjoyable trip over to Praslin on the 'Cat Cocos' and setting foot on the jetty at Baie Ste. Anne, there was enough time for a little stroll around the pier and to feed the fish which thrive in the waters here.
As I sit, I watch and take in the sights of tourists and locals moving about. Small crafts and larger yachts anchored in the bay, the sun glimmering off of the calm waters.
It is a lovely day and soon, quite soon our ferry will depart for a quick 15 minute ride over to La Digue.
At your own pace - once setting foot on La Digue there will be plenty of time to get lost and do nothing!
